On Sunday 26 September 2021 the Society as part of the St Arnold Janssen Student Centre celebrated Te Deum for the 2020-2021 Academic Year.

Te Deum laudamus, (Latin: “God, We Praise You” ) also called Te Deum, Latin hymn to God the Father and Christ the Son, traditionally sung on occasions of public rejoicing. According to legend, it was improvised antiphonally by St. Ambrose and St. Augustine at the latter’s baptism. It has more plausibly been attributed to Nicetas, bishop of Remesiana in the early 5th century.

For the student community, the TE DEUM celebration is a Mass of thanksgiving. The time when we express our uttermost gratitude to the Almighty for the blessings, protection as well as provisions during the academic year. We are always aware that it is by his grace that we were able to successfully navigate the huddles as well as challenges thrown at us during the year.

It is also a time we bid farewell to our fellow brothers and sisters who will be leaving the SAJSC family at the end of the Academic year. The ones going for their attachment as well as the ones graduating this year.

A full catalogue of the pictures from the celebrations are available here.
