“But whoever obeys me, dwells in security, in peace, without fear of harm”
Within the introductory Chapter of the book of Proverbs, the goal of the proverbs of King Solomon are outlined. King Solomon implores that people may receive instruction pertaining to wise conduct, in terms of what is right, what is just and what is fair.
He implores that we keep away from bad company (those whose feet hasten to do what is evil). Yet, very often we (myself included) fall prey to bad friends as well as company, as these always appear to be the fun lot in our midst. But more often than not, our association with them only leads us astray, on a path which goes against the Lord’s desires for our lives. We lose our good character as well as good conduct through associating ourselves with them.
Even though sometimes all may appear to be lost, we are reminded again that, the path back to righteousness is always open and it is always calling us no matter how far we have fallen astray. The more we ignore the call to righteousness, the greater the possibility of terror and doom befalling us.
Our own actions every minute of every single day, tend to bear fruits, which can either be good or bad. The nature of the fruits is heavily dependent upon the lives we lead. So in order to avoid falling victim to our own bad actions, the wisest decision we can make for our lives is to change our ways for the better, and once again start following wisdom’s statutes.
—Amen—
